Biography

Claudia Kearney has worked as a Family Trainer for the Center for Family and Community Engagement since 2009.  Before working for the Center, she worked as a trainer and consultant with the Department of Health and Human Services (DSS Division).  She also worked as a co-trainer and advocate with the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence.  Future goals for Claudia with the Center are to promote family-centered practice and meetings in college course studies and in the military community.  In addition to her work at the Center, Governor Beverly Perdue appointed Claudia to serve as a member of the Commission on Children with Special Health Care Needs.  The purpose of the Commission is to monitor and evaluate the availability and provision of health services to special needs children in this State, and to monitor and evaluate services provided to special needs children under the Health Insurance Program for Children.  Claudia also is a Family Fellow with University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Maternal and Child Health Leadership Consortium.  The overall mission of the UNC MCH Leadership Consortium is to work in partnership with the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, its National MCH Training Network, and state and local Title V programs to train the next generation of leaders and to better serve the MCH population.  Her special interests in social work include domestic violence and evidence based practice.
